New piece for the Mountain Research Initiative: 'The Tree on Top of the World'

I've spent the last few months living in the Andes of Ecuador, and helping my partner Heidi Asbjornsen with high-altitude research into Polylepis forests. Polylepis grow higher than any other tree in the world, often around high-altitude Paramo grasslands. I recently wrote this blog post for the Mountain Research Initiative, a worldwide NGO dedicated to high-altitude ecosystems research. Honored to help this great organization and this important climate-change research.

Muir Energy: A Transformation in Health

A few years ago I was diagnosed with Testicular cancer. After emerging from that challenge safely, I really took charge of my health, changing my diet, embracing endurance sports, studying the science, and prioritizing a healthy lifestyle. I recently wrote this piece for outstanding whole foods company Muir Energy (I'm an athlete ambassador for them). Check it out!

New Piece Published with Territory Run Co.: "The Wildest Thing"

Every two years I take high school students to the backcountry of Alaska's Glacier Bay as part of an environmental writing class that I teach. I'm excited to have this piece about one of those trips up on the website of one of my favorite companies, Territory Run Company. (Full disclosure: I'm an athlete ambassador for Territory). The piece is all about how time in wild places brings out the best in kids, both in the short term and in the long term. Enjoy!
